Elder Serve at Night
Outpatient care, 7 p.m. – 7 a.m.
ElderServe at Night is an overnight program designed for older persons living at home who require constant supervision during the night. For families who choose to continue care for their relative at home, the program offers a much needed opportunity for rest, relief from the burdens of care-giving and a good night’s sleep to restore themselves for ongoing care of their family members at home.
A comforting, supportive, therapeutic environment is provided from early evening to early morning for older people with sleep disturbances, agitation, confusion and for those who wander, putting themselves at risk in the home setting if not closely monitored throughout the night. Recognizing the dignity and individuality of each participant, ElderServe at Night offers the opportunity for each person to engage in quiet activities and rest or sleep in a safe and calming environment.
Social and recreational programs offered include music and therapeutic movement, horticulture therapy, crafts, painting, exercise classes, reading, discussion and reminiscence groups, alternative medicine, intergenerational activities and special events. Health care services provided include health monitoring and education, medication administration, personal care, grooming, showering and toileting, assistance with going to bed, wound care, tube feeding, physical, occupational and speech therapies.
A nutritious supper, late night snacks and breakfast, are served daily.
ElderServe at Night is open seven days a week, 365 days a year. Round trip, door-to-door transportation is available in comfortable, handicapped accessible vans. The program is available to persons residing in the Bronx, Manhattan and Westchester and is covered by Medicaid and private pay. Visa and MasterCard are accepted.
